Description of Construction Procedures, Analysis and Evaluation of the Obtained Results of Individual Variants of the Population Prognosis

The latest prognosis of the population development of the Slovak Republic was calculated at the end of 2022, based on the 2021 Population and Housing Census results. In contrast to previous prognoses, the horizon of this prognosis includes an additional 20 more years, i.e. until 2080. It is the first official prognosis in Slovakia with a horizon exceeding the year 2060. Thus, it captures also the period, when the population of Slovakia will no longer include the strong generations born in the second half of the 20th century, having a key impact primarily on the development of the age structure of the population.
